F.A.Q.s What are Seat Time Performance Driving Days? Who can participate? How much experience do I have to have? Any experience is ok. If you have none or very little, then you will go in our Drivers Ed Phase 1 group, and learn the basics of getting around a racetrack. Are all of the Seat Time events at Roebling Road? Yes. All events take place at Roebling Road in Savannah, Ga. What has to be done to my car so it can run? Your car must pass the Seat Time technical inspection.
This consists of general safety items such as good tires, good brakes and the car must be
in good working order with no fluid leaks. What safety equipment do I need? Drivers in Solo or DE groups should wear long pants and long sleeve shirts made of a natural fiber. Closed toed shoes are also required. Drivers will also be required to wear a Snell M95 or better helmet. (DOT only will not work) Drivers in Test & Tune must wear full fire retardant suits, shoes and gloves. An SA95+ helmet is also required. What kind of stuff should I bring? You should bring gear for any weather, sunscreen, umbrellas, raincoats..etc A tarp to cover your gear when it is outside of your car is a good idea too. Are convertibles allowed? Yes, convertibles are allowed, but most will need to have Roll Bars. 993+ Porsche 911s, Porsche Boxsters, and Honda S2000 are ok with factory rollover protection and factory harnesses. A Miata would need a roll bar. Can anyone under 18 participate? Yes. And Seat Time encourages younger people to come out and learn car control in a safe, controlled environment. Participants under the age of 18 will need to have a minor waiver signed by both parents, and at least one parent will need to be at the track the day of the event. How much track time will I get? The Schedule is for about 80 min of track time per group, but if there were to be accidents or other delays it may be less. Does Seat Time run in the rain? Yes. Seat Time runs in any weather. In the event of rain, wet driving techniques will be added to the classroom sessions. What Kind of stuff will I learn in Drivers Education? DE groups will have two levels, Phase 1 and Phase 2. Each is a step in learning the basics of performance driving, and how to safely participate in track days. Some of what is included is driving line, apexing, braking and car control. I have a Hot Lap timer, will I be able to use it? Yes. Seat Time believes that driving around a track without feedback such as lap times does not do much good. Drivers are asked to remember that it is not a race and to drive accordingly. DE groups are recommended against lap timers. Can I bring friends/relatives? Yes, guests are welcome. Everyone must sign the waiver though, even if they are not driving. Does Seat Time have group rates? Yes we do, please e-mail racerjon1@yahoo.com for information.
